The Alentejo is set in the south of Portugal, between the Tejo River and the Algarve. To the east it borders Spain and to the west it is washed by the Atlantic Ocean. It is an extensive region, essentially rural and lightly populated, over all representing about a third of Portugal.
The Montado Cork Forest is a natural core of the Alentejo. A space where nature and humans coexisted in a rare ecosystem.
Here, the cork oaks give us cork, a truly unique totally natural material. The holm oaks feed the animals, preserving native breeds and ancestral grazing techniques. And the long shade of the trees invites you to hike and explore.
The Alentejo is a green space that seems endless. Its crisp blue sky crowns clean air that fills your lungs.
