Locally brewed beer predates Portugal itself, going all the way back to ancient times. And, Portuguese have long opted for their own brews, versus imported beers.
Then, the door opened a decade ago, and slowly micro brewers sprouted up across the nation, including on the plains of the Alentejo.
Now, you can find craft brewery producing small batches of beer that are often independently owned and set in towns. Beyond the enthusiasm of local beer, look for new flavors, and brewing techniques.

Magnífica Cerveja Artesanal do Alentejo - Évora
Magnífica is a craft beer brewed in Évora with a Beer House where you can taste artisanal beers, local and foreign. A place where you can also enjoy some excellent food and a unique place in Évora with a great location and terrace.
BARONA - Marvão
BARONA Brewing was founded in 2015 by three partners, all born in Castelo de Vide, and they used the first letters of their nicknames to form the name: Barrigas, Roque and Nabo = BARONA. Today it is a leading microbrewery in Marvão, in the mountains of the Alto Alentejo. Cerveja BARONA is one of the best known craft beers in the Alentejo, and set in a wonderful place.
Cerveja Alvoreada, Brewery - Beja
The brewery is artisanal but modern with stainless steel equipment. On the 1st floor, there is a space for beer tasting and Alentejo snacks. On Fridays, the Alvoreada get-togethers are famous in Beja, set in an outdoor bar. The shops sells 3 pack beers, T-shirts and other merchandise.
Ponto G, Santarém
This brew pub is open every day, offering music and drinks, and a fantastic atmosphere.

Craft BBS- Évora
With two micro brewers and burger bars Craft BBS offers locations in Évora and Vila Viçosa - with a long list of craft beers as well as the best burgers on the menu. All beers are brewed in house, and the burger list has vegan, pork, fish and even mushroom options on the very creative menu. Fun and full of locals.
