Near Monsaraz you can find Dark Sky Alqueva®, the first place in the world to be certified by UNESCO as a Starlight Tourism Destination, in 2011.

Few places in the world have such spectacular, unpolluted night skies and here they stretch over 10,000 square kilometres around the vast lake.
